Description: These books were owned by a former Arabian horse owner. These volumes are limited to just 1000 copies. The lot also includes volume #31 of The Arabian Stud Book. Also included in the lot are three diagrams regarding breeding and pedigree.

About This Set: "An essential index for Arabian Horse owners and breeders. Carl Reinhard Raswan was an authority on Arabian horses. He became an expert on the Arabian breed through his lengthy trips to the desert, where he lived with the Bedouins and learned their language and customs. Alice Payne wrote in The Arabian Horse News, 11/12/1966: "Carl, without a doubt in my opinion, had more influence on Arabian horse breeding than any man, living or dead. The part he played in saving the classic Arabian horse is well known in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa. World politics did not chain him. He was equally known on both sides of the Iron Curtain. His knowledge was sought after all over the world. To the very end he was helping people world-wide in selecting animals, planning breeding and making importation. In the past he had been involved with the Brown, Dickenson and Kellogg importation into this country. In fact, he organized the Kellogg stud". The Raswan Index is a key element in the tracing of Arabian bloodlines. Since the Bedouins kept only oral records of the bloodlines, Raswan's work was the first time much of this information became widely available. In addition, Raswan studied the bloodlines carefully and provides a great deal of information about their effect on conformation, particularly when he compares photos of different horses."

Condition: Good condition. (the bindings and spines are very good on all 3 volumes, but there is a white spatter one of the Raswan volumes, otherwise only minor wear to the set)
