Christopher Clark Fine Art & Antiquities made the overwhelming task of liquidating the contents of my father’s small estate so incredibly easy. I wasn’t even sure if it was worth having an estate sale since my father was not a collector of valuables or artwork. But from the start Chris was so respectful of my father’s belongings and his mantra was everything has value. My first time having an estate sale, Chris made it interesting and educational. From precious metals to scrap metals, jewels to tools, and everything in between, Chris’ knowledge of an item’s worth and what would and would not sell was impressive, as well as his marketing strategies. He ran the sale for 4 days and the 5th day was ‘come and take it’ day. He was a true professional throughout. The house was completely cleaned out and broom-swept by the last day. He was extremely organized, kept receipts and sent me a check with copies of everything within days. And we made more money than I ever expected! Highly recommend. Chris went way above and beyond in a well planned out, systematic method of selling. He brought in a network of buyers with different interests who paid very well for the items we were selling. After four days, as promised, the once packed house of seemingly junk was all sold. We made three times more than my estimate and the house is empty and ready to be sold. We write to thank you for your great help in winding up our sister-in-law's estate.
Our sister-in-law died February 6, 2022. Her will named Louis as the executor of her estate. Unfortunately, her house was in Florida but we are resident in Arizona. We made two or three trips to Florida and took away from it some family mementos, such as photos and birth and death certificates, and some documents needed to settle the estate. Otherwise, the house was entirely as Ruth had left it the last time she was there. We really couldn't do much else.
We contacted you to conduct the sale or Ruth's personal property, the contents of the house. You undertook to make it a "turn key" assignment. That is, you took care of everything from finding out absolutely everything that was in the house, organizing it for sale, pricing it, and then advertising and conducting the actual sale.
We were concerned about some of the high-end items, jewelry and artworks, we thought would sell for peanuts at a neighborhood sale. There were many items about which we had no idea if they were special or not. Your extensive and long experience in estate sales came to the rescue, assuring that what was sold at the house in the neighborhood sale was really suited to that kind of sale, while the things that deserved better treatment you sent to auction houses and wholesale buyers specializing in particular kinds of goods. It would have been entirely beyond our capabilities to figure out all this and find the best buyers. You saved us a world of trouble.
ine the end, you disposed of everything and we realized far more from the sale than either we or our attorney had hoped. The only thing that could mitigate the difficulties we experienced by not being on the scene was communication, and we have to say that you were eminently responsive and forthcoming at every point. We had to effect some repairs to the house and we very much appreciate your helping out at certain points - we think particularly of your opening the house for the inspector who needed to test the newly repaired air conditioning. I don't know how we could have arranged for that, but you did it for us and again saved us a great deal of trouble and worry, even though it was not in your contract.
It goes without saying that we wish none of this had happened, that Ruth would have had someone near her home to take care of her estate. It's been a huge headache for us for more than a year. Your help, however, made the burden much, much lighter.
