Sweet & Company Incredible Waterfront Lake View NY Estate Sale

This upcoming weekend, Saturday October 27th and Sunday October 28th, Sweet & Company will be conducting a sale at the estate of Dean E. and Lily Becker, heirs to the Eckhardt Department Store, established in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood of Buffalo in 1886. The family has occupied this Duane Lyman designed, waterfront home on the Old Lake Shore Road in Lake View since 1949, and filled it with period antiques, high quality vintage decorator pieces, and three generations of fabulous finds.

Included in the sale is a 1903 Steinway Model A Grand Piano, serial number 106163, an 18th century carved bureau plat, a Vernis Martin vitrine and music cabinet, a marble top inlaid bombay chest, a three piece round sofa, a Kittinger game table and four chairs, a six piece Widdicomb hand painted bedroom suite, many pieces of Salterini garden furniture, an Italian tole metal rose coffee table, a Renaissance revival parlor set, and many other high quality pieces of furniture. There is also a marble bust by Antonio Piazza, French and German majolica, Roycroft copper bookends, a Van Briggle 'Lady of the Lake' centerpiece, early Native American snowshoes, 1930's Lionel trains, accessories and track, vintage clothing, and ephemera collected from early 1920's Grand Tour cruises including books, maps, photos, and postcards, and several early Audubon Birds of America octavo edition prints. The kitchen and pantry are filled with high quality crystal, limoges, hand painted Austrian and German porcelain, a large set of Poole England Sage dinnerware, Russel Wright for Iroquois, many sets of glassware and much more.

We have incredible lighting including many French and Italian chandeliers and sconces, two Rookwood Pottery vase table lamps by Margaret Helen McDonald, a pair of French Sevres table lamps, a pair of large Murano glass table lamps, and antique crystal bulb covers. There are also several pieces from the Duane Lyman designed, art modern, Eckhardt Department store building including the original blueprints prepared by Lyman, two brass framed store directory windows, and four drawer art deco birch storage/display units.
