The Robert Barton Trust
Mr. Robert Barton was of the Plumer Humphreys Barton Family, one of the First
Settlers of Newbury, arriving on the ship “Mary & John” in the early 1600s.
Generations of family possessions from the family home on High Road, across the street from the Historic Lower Green, will be sold under tents to the highest bidders.

Only items being sold on Saturday will be out for preview!

This will be an Old Fashioned Country Auction with no on-line bidding.
There will be no previews prior to auction day.
Items of interest: 1938 Steinway Baby Grand Piano; Important and Rare 28” long Marklin Tin Wind-up Toy Ship in untouched condition, “Amerika”; Locally made Colonial and Later Furnishings including a Documented circa 1700 Dowry Chest attributed to the Emery Shops of Newbury, most likely for Mehetabel Wicom; 17th c Cradle possibly by Serj. Stephen Jaques for Ephrom Plumer’s first child Mary, born 1681; Trough that according to tradition was used to make the bread on board the “Mary & John”; Fine Examples of Early Clothing and Textiles including the huge 18th c Loom some were made from; Family Jewelry Collection spans from the 18th to 20th c.

How will the items be divided by day?
More important and individual items including the jewelry and textiles will be auctioned on Saturday. Sunday will truly be an Old Fashioned Discovery Auction including the Old Salt Marsh Haying Wagons and 100’s of other items from Country to Victorian grouped together as we continue to sort through the vast array of History. So much stuff, bring your trucks and plan on long days!
