Books and Media Sale -- 

Our notable Fundraising Spring Book Sale will be conducted in the Southbury Public Library Basement.  Proceeds from the sale will benefit the Southbury Public Library  -  please note new books are coming in on an ongoing basis.  Updated information posted regularly.

60,000 Books and Media Items, they are 100% donated from the homes and estates of our community and surrounding communities.

ADDED ON APRIL 21ST - The Friends of the Southbury Public Library, Inc. are honored to have received the exceptional gift of the Brooke & Roger Berlind Library. Mr. Berlind is renowned for his production of Broadway plays and musicals. He has won numerous Tony awards  Productions: Amadeus, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, Ain’t Misbehaving, Guys and Dolls and Kiss Me Kate.  The Library has Art & Architecture, Travel, Photography, Decorating, Design, Castles and Estates, quality Fiction and Non-Fiction and Theatre. Their selection of books are in pristine condition and show the wide range of interests of this accomplished couple. The 1,500 books in the collection are in excellent condition. They will be offered in the “Special Collections” area.

Items are organized into 65 categories

Book sale floor reorganized into fiction, non-fiction, and specials sections.

Fiction by Author, Biographies by person, History by War, etc.

A large selection of vinyl records - Jazz, Classical, Showtunes/soundtrack, Rock/Pop, Heavy Metal, over 500 Polka Vinyl albums, opera, world music, and many other selections.

DVDs/Music CDs include  JAZZ. CLASSICAL, ROCK/POP,  HEAVY METAL, COUNTRY/FOLK, CLASSICAL, OPERA, SHOWTUNES/SOUNDTRACK, MEDITATION, POLKA, WORLD, GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK AND SOME BLUES.

Notable Donations and offerings:

A limited 1904 edition (No.  214 of 468 editions) of the 14-Volume Holy Bible Containing the Old and New Testaments and the Apocrypha. (King James Version) Limited, numbered edition; top edge gilt, octavo, quarter-morocco over wooden boards;  published by R. H. Hinkley of Boston, and printed by Merrymount Press on hand-made paper. Illustrated with seventy black & white plates by various artists.

120 Trade Paperback Chess books from an avid player.

2,000 plus cookbooks, high quality, our largest selection ever.

Collectible, signed and 1st edition books throughout the sale.

Trains, Trains and more Trains - from Model Trains (Lionel) to the history of trains, and various train routes.

The Special Collection” this year has many antiquarian selected items that merit attention. Many in the 1850 – 1890, a large donation from antiques and art dealer

 2,500+ records. A special display of vinyl collectible records we have been gathering for a number of years.

5,000+ CDs, 2,000+ DVDs.

 A long table section of decorative shelf items from estate donations in our Expanded Boutique section. Many are unique.

 Large selection of local interest, NY, CT MA, NH, ME & New England. 

Collections of books on Hunting, Fly Fishing, BOATING, and Golf!  And plenty of books on AUTOMOBILES/CAR MANUALS/CLASSIC CARS FOR THE CAR ENTHUSIAST.

An excellent collection of Mystery books in mass-market format, 800-1,000 on a set of tables in the middle of the sale. Most are in clean lightly used condition.

 200+ Music books and sheets, Rock, Jazz, classical. Many are vintage suitable for framing.
